Daniel Mijtens the Younger
Daniël Mijtens the Younger (1644, The Hague – 1688, The Hague), was a Dutch Golden Age painter and the son of Daniel Mytens the Elder.
==Biography==
According to Houbraken he travelled to Italy where he joined the Bentvueghels with the nickname "Bontekraay" (The Hooded Crow).〔 (Daniël Mijtens Biography ), including a poem by Cornelis van Rijssen in ''De groote schouburgh der Nederlantsche konstschilders en schilderessen'' (1718) by Arnold Houbraken, courtesy of the Digital library for Dutch literature〕
He was one of the 48 signers of the founding charter of the Confrerie Pictura in the Hague, and painted one of the four corner pieces of the ceiling of the "Boterwaag" where the guild members met.〔(Confrerie Pictura ), page in ''De groote schouburgh...''〕 The other corners were painted by Theodor van der Schuer, Augustinus Terwesten, and Robbert Duval.〔
According to the RKD, he was a pupil of his father, who was court painter in the Hague.〔(Daniël Mijtens ) in the RKD〕 He is known for mythological subjects and interior decorations.〔 His pupils were Lourens Bruyning, Nicolaes Hooft, Mattheus Terwesten, and Elias Vinie.〔
